Studio Humbug celebrates the simplicity in a line. From something simple comes something beautiful.

All our designs are grounded in the timeless quality of stripes, infused with a contemporary sense of playfulness. Our palette is colourful yet earthy, and our fabrics are printed on the highest quality linens to ensure an enduring relationship with the various other elements in a scheme.

Founder and designer Katie Cary cut her cloth in the world of fashion where she founded a shoe and accessories line in 2015. It's whilst working here that her love for colour and pattern was born as she worked first hand in developing textiles for footwear and RTW designs. Studio Humbug originated from an increasing interest in the interiors world, coupled with a desire to produce more sustainably on a made to order model from suppliers in the UK.

All our fabrics are printed to order in the North of England to ensure a sustainable business model: there is minimal waste, a low carbon footprint and we're supporting UK trade and jobs.

  • All our wallpaper inks are eco-friendly and water-based, which means they are non-toxic and very low in VOCs (volatile organic compounds), and free from Cadmium, Chromium, Mercury, Lead or Formaldehyde.
  • Our fabrics use pigment inks which require much smaller quantities of colour creating less waste; this also removes the need for further post processing/washing off procedures which are a big drain on water and energy consumption.
  • All deadstock is repurposed into bespoke soft furnishings and sold as one off pieces.
  • Cushions are made in small batches by a UK seamstress using the best quality materials, if not from our own lines then often from industry dead stock which would otherwise end up in landfill.
